This feature is aimed for businesses that don't want to allow customers to choose the vehicle that'll be used for a trip and prefer to do it themselves, and operators with only one vehicle. By bypassing the vehicle selection process, the booking journey becomes faster and simpler for users. When this feature is enabled, the operator sets a default vehicle, and customers no longer have to choose one during the booking process.
Use Case:
Enterprise Executive Service: A company's executives use company vehicles without being able to choose them. To meet this need, this feature skips vehicle selection, allowing the operator to assign the appropriate vehicle from the Operator App.
Single-Vehicle Operators: If an operator only has one vehicle available, skipping vehicle selection reduces unnecessary steps, streamlining the booking, quoting or reservation request process.
How to Enable the Skip Vehicle Selection Feature
Go to Operator App > Settings > Customer Portal > Settings, find the "Skip Vehicle Selection" option and toggle it on. When you enable this feature, a list of your available vehicles will appear, sorted alphabetically. Choose the vehicle you want to be auto-selected for bookings. You can change this auto selected vehicle for a trip after it's been booked.
Note: If you attempt to enable this setting without any vehicles created, an error message will appear. Make sure you have vehicles added before turning this feature on.
Customer Portal Workflow Changes
When the Skip Vehicle Selection feature is active, customers will no longer see a vehicle selection screen. The system will automatically apply the default vehicle chosen in the settings, allowing the customer to proceed directly to the next relevant step:
Priceless Bookings: If the default vehicle is configured for priceless bookings, customers will directly reach the step for submitting a reservation request.
Direct Reservation (BRA): For vehicles configured for standard reservation workflows, customers will proceed directly to the reservation confirmation step.
Quote Requests: If the vehicle is set for quote requests, customers will move directly to the quote submission step.
Regardless of the workflow (reservation, priceless booking (reservation request), or quote request), skipping vehicle selection does not alter the vehicle's setting for what the customer is able to to with that vehicle.
FAQs:
What happens if a customer clicks "Previous Step" during booking?
They’ll be taken back to the first step, skipping the vehicle selection entirely.
Can I change the default vehicle after enabling Skip Vehicle Selection?
Yes, you can update the selected vehicle at any time via the same settings menu.
How does this feature impact customer pricing visibility?
There is no change to pricing visibility. If the booking requires a quote, customers will still go through that process after the vehicle is auto-selected. Same logic applies for reservations and reservation requests.
