What is it?

Setting up your Custom Domain shows email providers that Moovs has permission to send emails on your behalf. Once your custom domain has been set up, recipients will no longer see β€œno-reply@moovs.app” as the sender on your emails and will instead see your custom business email.

What do I need?

In order to utilize the custom domain feature in Moovs, you must have a registered domain name AND email hosting. If you do not already have these services, you can purchase them from 1000s of registrars online. We recommend the services below, they are user-friendly and two of the largest and most trusted domain registrars.

Please note:

  • Do not attempt to set up the custom domain feature in Moovs if you have not already purchased the mentioned services. Doing so will prevent customers from receiving emails from you through Moovs.

  • Moovs is not affiliated with GoDaddy or Google Domains. Please do your research on which domain registrar is best for you and your business.

How does it help me?

Even though this is a slight change from your recipient's perspective, this has a substantial positive impact on your reputation as a sender and your email deliverability. Email service providers distrust messages that don't have domain authentication set up because they can not be sure that the message comes from you. Explicitly stating that it comes from you increases your reputation with email service providers, which makes it much less likely that they will filter your mail and not allow it to get to your recipient's inbox. You are also explicitly showing your recipients that this email comes from you, so they are less likely to mark your mail as spam.

How to set it up?

To set up a custom domain:

  1. In the Custom Domain authentication section, click Setup Custom Email Domain.

  2. Fill in the domain that you want to send from. Make sure that you only enter the name of your root domain. Do not include www or http://www in this field. Your domain needs to match the domain of your FROM address on the emails you are sending out. For example, if I am sending an email from example@moovslimo.com, I would set my domain authentication domain to be moovslimo.com. Click Save My Domain.

  3. Next, you need to add all of the CNAME records on this screen to your DNS host. This process varies depending on your domain registrar. Below we have provided links on how to set up CNAME records for some of the most popular:

GoDaddy, Google DNS, Amazon Route 53, and Namecheap, are among providers that automatically add your domain to your new DNS record values, resulting in a CNAME entry with too much information that fails authentication. An example of this would be em123.yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com. Be sure to check your CNAME for this behavior if your domain doesn't validate initially. Below is an example of the CNAME values under the HOST column as they are displayed and how you will need to enter them into your DNS management with one of these providers:

HOST/NAME em123.yourdomain.com .

ENTER CNAME RECORD HOST/NAME AS: em123

HOST/NAME s1._domainkey.yourdomain.com

ENTER CNAME RECORD HOST/NAME AS: s1._domainkey

HOST/NAME s2._domainkey.yourdomain.com

ENTER CNAME RECORD

HOST/NAME AS: s2._domainkey

Entries made in the VALUE or POINTS TO field do not need to be changed.

We've created a meeting link you can use to schedule a time where we can help you setup your custom domain with Moovs. Be advised, there are potentially thousands of domain registrars, each with their own instructions. While we will make all reasonable attempts to aid you in setting this up there may be instances where we will be unable to do so.
