Deadhead is the time or distance your drivers travel without a passenger. This happens before a pickup and after a drop-off. You must account for this cost when you build pricing in Moovs.

Deadhead Rate Per Mile

Moovs calculates this fee based on your garage location, not the driver's real-time position. This ensures customers receive consistent garage-to-garage pricing regardless of the driver's location when they accept the trip.

The system uses the address in Settings > General > Company > Address for these calculations:

  • (Garage → Pickup) × Deadhead Rate Per Mile

  • (Drop-off → Garage) × Deadhead Rate Per Mile

These two amounts combine with the standard trip cost (Pickup → Drop-off) to create the final price.

Note: Deadhead Rate Per Mile applies only to One-Way or Return-Trip (transfer) calculations. The system still checks the Minimum Base Rate to ensure the total does not fall below your vehicle's minimum.

Total Deadhead Duration

Total Deadhead Duration applies to hourly trips. It defines the number of hours you will travel without charging the customer.

  • Example 1: You set a duration of 5 hours. You travel up to 5 hours total (Garage → Pickup and Drop-off → Garage) for free.

  • Example 2: You set a duration of 0 hours. You charge the customer from the moment the vehicle leaves the garage.

Quick Steps to Edit

  2. Click Add Vehicle or select an existing vehicle.

  3. Scroll to Pricing.
