As a Moovs transportation operator, you rely on text messages to keep your passengers informed about their rides. Sometimes, you might notice that some of these messages don't seem to reach their destination. This can be concerning, and we want to explain why this can happen in simple terms.

What is SMS Filtering?

Think of SMS filtering like a security checkpoint for text messages. Mobile phone companies (carriers like Verizon, AT&T, etc.) have systems in place to block messages that look like spam or unwanted content. Their goal is to protect their users from annoying or potentially harmful texts.

Why Your Moovs Messages Might Get Filtered

  1. Sending Similar Messages to Many People: Just like with emails, if you send a large number of very similar text messages (like automated ride updates), carriers might see this as a pattern associated with spam. It’s like a security guard becoming suspicious of someone repeatedly saying the exact same phrase to everyone passing by.

  2. Certain Words or Phrases: Some words or phrases commonly used in transportation (like "booking," "pickup," or even links) can sometimes be flagged by spam filters, even if your message is legitimate. It's similar to how certain keywords in an email can trigger spam filters.

  3. New Phone Number or Sending Pattern: If Moovs is using a new phone number to send out SMS messages, or if there's a sudden increase in the volume of messages from a particular number, carriers might be more cautious initially. It takes time for a new sender to build a positive reputation with their systems.

  4. Carrier Regulations: Mobile carriers have to follow rules and regulations in different regions. Sometimes, these regulations can lead to stricter filtering of certain types of messages.

Important Note: Unfortunately, carriers often don't provide detailed reasons why a specific message was filtered. If you notice a significant number of your messages aren't being delivered, please report it to your supervisor or the Moovs support team so they can investigate potential patterns.
